The Reserve Harbor Marina, located on Willbrook Island, is a sister project to The Reserve, a Greg Norman designed golf course and exclusive development at Litchfield in Georgetown County, South Carolina. The project included construction of a high end wetslip marina with a basin excavated-in uplands with access through a historical rice field canal. A water quality model coordinated with marina operational guidelines assured environmental and historical responsibility on a colonial site. The challenging project includes accommodations for a public boat ramp accessed through a private club marina. Alternative designs for various building and structural materials were necessary to address project needs and market conditions. The sensitive site required preservation of 200 year old oaks and a colonial cemetery. The marina contains 60 floating slips, a 240 boat drystack, a boat ramp with 25 public spaces, fuel facilities, a private clubhouse and ancillary parking facilities.
