Located in Myrtle Beach, SC,
this private marina development is located next to the Atlantic
Intracoastal Waterway. A marina basin was excavated out of high ground to
accommodate 117 slips constructed of locally fabricated wooden docks. The
bulkhead design utilizes rounded corners and provides an aesthetically
pleasing border for the marina basin. The land plan achieved priceless
views into a pristine marsh, the marina basin and boating traffic along
the Intracoastal Waterway.
Working with the client's land planner we
were able to accomplish this intensive land use. A modification of
the marina permit allowed on-site wetlands impact with mitigation on an
adjacent parcel. A dredging permit modification was obtained from
the Army Corps of Engineers which included maintenance dredging. Z-JGT
also coordinated maintenance dredging operations.
Mariners Point Marina is one of the most
successful residential developments in Little River, S.C., an area with
many residential waterfront projects. The project flourishes due to
its location on the Intracoastal Waterway, successful land plan, and
beautiful views. The addition of a creatively permitted and well
designed marina helped complete the picture of a successful project
