New Boat Landing Under Construction

New Parking and Drainage Facilities

Dawhoo Landing is located in Charleston County, SC on Edisto Island. The facility fronts on the Dawhoo River and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway as it winds southward from Charleston Harbor to Savannah. The existing facility had only an old outdated ramp with gravel parking and no service docks. Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission  secured the services of Jon Guerry Taylor & Associates to evaluate the existing boating needs and develop a proposed facility upgrade. The upgrade proposed was reviewed by both the staff and members of the PRT Commission and once approved was permitted through state and federal agencies and readied for final design and construction.

The new facility included 2 new launching lanes, improved parking for 50 boaters and trailers, fishing pier parking for 12 autos, improved access, night lighting, stone rip-rap erosion control and “ground out” docks for boat launching service at all tide levels.

The project construction cost came in under budget and ahead of schedule.
