The
Robert E. Ashley Boat Landing is located in historic McClellanville, South
Carolina.
The facility fronts on Jeremy Creek and is the sole boat landing in the
Village, providing access to the general public as well as many of the
area's commercial clam and oystermen. The existing facility had only an old outdated ramp
and no service docks. The Town of McClellanville secured the
services of Jon Guerry Taylor & Associates to evaluate the existing boating needs and develop a proposed facility upgrade. The upgrade proposed was reviewed by
members of the Town Council and the McClellanville Boat Landing Advisory
Committee and once approved was permitted through state and federal agencies and readied for final design and construction.
The new facility
will include 2 new launching lanes, improved parking for boaters and trailers,
improved access for the elderly or physically challenged, a new timber
bulkhead and “ground out” docks for boat launching service at all tide levels.
The project
is scheduled to begin construction in the spring of 2005.
