| JGT planned and
designed this 120 slip marina and boat ramp facility on the Waccamaw River
(Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway). This private marina is part of the
amenities package for this exclusive retirement golf community. The marina
included an "over the water" Harbormaster Office, fixed and
floating docks, a boat ramp, and parking.
The site was difficult due to its wind
exposure and location on the heavily traveled Atlantic Intracoastal
Waterway. These site concerns were overcome by using side tie dockage to
assist the non-local boater, and a uniquely designed underwater wave
attenuator as part of the floating dock to dampen deep hulled boat wakes.
The facility has complete power and water
hookups and has become filled with community boaters. An adjoining single
lane boat landing with its own floating dock is often used by homeowners
with trailerable boats. It has also quickly become a wonderful location to
