The project consists of 3
courses with a total of 54 golf holes; two-18 hole championship courses and
an 18 hole executive course all designed by golf course architect Rees
Jones. The 700 acre site contains over 300 acres of highland infused with
fresh water wetlands and natural ponds. These environmentally sensitive
wetland systems allow uniquely beautiful golf holes, but demanded aggressive
and creative wetland delineation, mitigation, and permitting.
JGT was responsible for
environmental evaluation of existing site conditions, evaluations of
adjacent properties for possible acquisition, and state and federal agency
permitting. Due to the unique nature of the soils and hydrology, we were
able to obtain good results with the use of groundwater monitoring wells. We
also worked closely with the golf course architect, Reese Jones, to
facilitate course layout with challenging and pleasing integration of the
golf facilities into the existing wetlands. We were responsible for golf
course drainage, site planning of the clubhouse, entrance roads, general
civil design, and mitigation for unavoidable wetland impacts. Mitigation was
accomplished through enhancement of existing wetlands, and the creation of
new wetlands in areas previously impacted with roads. |
